I wanted a cooker for brown rice I could set ahead, by being: easy to use, one hundred dollars less than other brands, easy to clean, and best of all, producing tasty products with minimal effort, including the boon of porridges--rice porridge, oatmeal, you name it-- and rice with extras (like vegetables.) I have heard wonderful things about Zojirushi, but the local availability, and cost, kept me away.
Descriptors, mostly "PROS", below. "CONS" follow, and a book recommendation--
Accessories: Rice spoon, measuring cup, and comes with two instructional booklets (I suspect in response to an earlier review or other customer feedback, asking for simple "English only,") one very easy to use, and just in English. Able to clean, use immediately.
Operation: Read booklet, pick type of rice, measure, rinse as per instructions and your desire, add water up to lines in the non-stick bowl, close lid, push start (also has timer.) It has "fuzzy logic"... Read more

This rice cooker cooks perfect white rice being soft, puffy and not to watery. We had 3 Aroma rice cookers previously that would not last over 3 years and the cooking quality is subpar sometimes the rice is too dry or too wet like porridge eww gross. This one has sensor that detects perfect rice unlike traditional rice cookers that rely on the weight of the pan. Cooking White rice normally could take up to 1 hour but your getting delicious rice for the wait.
Also I would recommend you try Jasmine rice.

It took some time to experiment with different ingredients/cooking options until I was making rice with the texture I enjoy. So, after the slight learning curve I am now cooking rice with this machine which doesn't even compare to the stove top method. Clean up is a breeze thanks to the non-stick coating on the steamer pot. Highly recommended.
Negatives:
The 10 cup steamer I bought is proving to be larger than necessary. I bought the 10cup because I was planning on cooking enough rice to last a couple of days. But this tiger steamer is so simple and fast I wouldn't mind cooking my rice everyday/every other day. But if I wanted to get creative with different "rice cooker recipes" I have plenty of room!
